Matt Taylor - Recording Engineer

Matt is an award-winning engineer, named Breakthrough Engineer of The Year at the Music Producer’s Guild Awards 2022.

With a background in live music and a BA (Hons) in Sound Technology from the Liverpool's prestigious Institute for Performing Arts, Matt has been resident engineer at ARC Recording Studios since 2019 delivering records for Frank Turner, KT Tunstall, Amy Wadge, Julia Donaldson, Ninebarrow and more.

Matt loves working with bands and artists on the rise, collaborating closely to help them define their sound and create landmark releases. He loves the detail of each project and the challenge of interpreting artistic direction into sound profiles and microphone placements. Matt has a proven track record of delivering their vision sonically. He excels at the technical aspects of sound production and loves the detailed work of bringing music to life in a studio environment. Matt has been recognised as an emerging talent, winning the 2022 MPG Rising Star Award, and longlisted for Vocal Producer of The Year in 2024.

Mark Tucker - Creative Director

Mark is studio manager, senior engineer & house producer of ARC Studios. He has a long professional association with some of the biggest names in the UK’s rock & folk scene including Jethro Tull and Fairport Convention. Mark has built and managed studios for both Martin Barre and Dave Pegg of Jethro Tull and Fairport Convention respectively.

Mark’s career in music began in the early 1980s as a musician. Some of his earliest experiences of recording were in two of the world’s most renowned studios; Sunset Sound & Sunset Sound Factory in Los Angeles working with David Kahne, Tchad Blake, David Leonard and Mitchell Frome.

Mark started out as a 2” tape-op and helping build Movement Audio Studios. Movement was home of the Movement Drum Computer. Designed and built by studio owner and innovator, John Dickenson. The drum computer featured custom samples recorded at Movement Studios, played by Phil Collins. The drum machine features on The Eurythmics Sweet Dreams recording and video. Mark progressed to recording engineer and worked on TV and film soundtracks for programmes such as BBC’s Natural World series with BAFTA and double Emmy Award nominee, composer Terry Oldfield.

On his return from the USA, Mark built and managed a number of UK based residential studios, including Presshouse Studio for Martin Barre and Woodworm Studios for Dave & Christine Pegg who produced the Cropredy Festival. Dave also being the bass player Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull. Mark made some 25 albums between 1989 and 2008 with these artists alone, representing only a small portion of Mark’s professional output for that period.. Both studios had attracted an array of international artists such as; Robert Plant, P.J. Harvey, Frances Dunnery, Spirit of The West, Portishead and Ian Gillan, to name a few.

Mark was integral in the creation and day-to-day running of Acoustic Magazine from 2004, becoming editor in 2007 until 2010 when Blaze Publishing bought the magazine.

More recently Mark designed & built ARC Studios: a two year project from concept to fruition incorporating the beautifully restored 32 channel SSL G+E (16x16) series console and acoustically-designed control room and live rooms.

Mark also performed at Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park in 2018 with his project The Band of Love alongside the likes of The Stereophonics, Lenny Kravitz and Kylie Minogue.
